Microsoft Mojave 'outs' secret Vista lovers

The backlash against the Vista backlash begins here. Microsoft recently conducted the 'Mojave Experiment', in which they tricked a test group into liking Windows Vista, videoed the results and posted them online. Vista's not rubbish, just misunderstood, seems to be the message, but whether these videos can change the perception of Vista as slow and incompatible remains to be seen.

Horribly good internet plot to kill off TV

Dr Horrible is a super villain plotting to take over the world. So far, so so, but Dr Horrible is actually an internet-only TV show developed by Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon, who needed something to do during the recent Hollywood writer's strike. The show already has millions of viewers and has struck fear into the hearts of TV programmers and schedulers everywhere.

The Google killer is
less than 'cuil'

The launch of search engine Cuil (it's pronounced 'cool', no, really) was less than stellar. Despite oodles of pre-launch hype about the 'Google killer's' 121 billion indexed web pages (to Google's 40 billion), former Google employee heritage and $33m in venture capital, the site has so far disappointed with its 'eccentric' search results that include random porn links and unrelated subject matter.

Kingpin raises £8,900 at charity quiz evening

Kingpin’s charity quiz night in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital on August 20th was a roaring success thanks to the input of everyone who attended and participated in the evening.

The evening’s quiz, Wii challenge, auction and raffle made for a festive evening and resulted in some impressive competition and audacious out-bidding for great auction pieces.

The auction alone raised £2,400 and the theme

was definitely sports-focused with signed football shirts from Coventry, Arsenal, Chelsea and Allesandro Del Pierro bringing in the biggest takings.

Feedback from those who attended has been great and we’re planning to turn the event into an annual occasion. People will be begging for tickets next year, so put it in your expense calendar for 2009!

Thanks again to all who were involved, your corporate and individual generosity will be put to great use by GOSH.

Gadgets sold by vending machine

No need to queue at the Apple shop for your next iPod, you can pick up all sorts of small, sexy gizmos with the same sort of machine that normally offers chocolate bars and crisps.
